Rocky Mountain Getaway

A relaxing weekend getaway deep in the Rocky Mountains was absolutely refreshing after an incredible summer of growth and transformation. Some of the staff here at YWAM Denver took full advantage of the time we have in-between schools and work projects, and were able to get away to relax and make some fun memories with each other.

While we were at Electric Mountain (pictured above), we had the weekend free to explore! Many of us hiked and camped in the National forests surrounding the property, hammocked in the sky-scraping aspens, rode the dirt trails in the ATVs, bonded with the neighbors horses, picked wildflowers, went hot tubbing, roasted marshmallows on the bonfire, went target shooting, had Bible study, and played card games in fellowship with one another. Sometimes in the busyness of our day we forget to relax and just have fun with one another. I believe we serve a God who delights in spending time with us, especially in our laughter and time spent with each other.

The school terms can also get very busy and I learned over the weekend that it is so important to recharge and do something that makes you come alive on a regular basis. If I am rested it allows me to run at full speed while serving. Taking the time to do something enjoyable isn’t a waste of time at all! God wants us to take time to do those things so that we can serve Him with everything we have. Another important lesson I learned is the importance of resting and having fun with other people. It is awesome to take the time to appreciate alone time but spending the weekend at Electric Mountain, I was able to get to know several people I didn’t know very well beforehand. Having fun combined with working hard together builds a deep and healthy relationship and makes living in a healthy community a lot better!
